ABOUT

Emma Colton is a Jewish Asian-American artist with a professional background in dance and videography. Originally from South Florida, she graduated from Bucknell University in 2015 with a BA in psychology and dance. Emma’s experimental video art uses dance movement to portray her curiosity on identity, culture and various politics. Her work has been featured in Wonderful World of Dance, Dance Magazine, Triskelion Arts, The Tank Theater, Dixon Place Performing Arts Theater and most recently Lincoln Center and Portland Dance Film Fest. Emma's work establishes a voice to underrepresented communities and causes.

"The Perfect Smile" is a piece I choreographed to address the inequalities found in America's oral healthcare system known as the silent epidemic. Inspired by the book "Teeth" written by Mary Otto.
